This course is an introductory class for the industrial arts where students will learn the various steps an industrial designer takes in order to design and build their projects. What they will learn will include, but not be limited to: materials technology, measuring techniques and tools, project planning, construction documentation, safety, building techniques, and the use of various hand tools & power tools for projects.
Students & parents/ guardians please fill out & sign the Safety contract and return it to me
I will hand out contracts in class for students to take home
A digital copy can be found at the bottom of this page and on my google classroom page
Students must hand in a signed physical copy to me no later than Friday 9/17
Mouse for your computer
this is optional, but highly encouraged for using documentation software like AutoCAD & Sketchup more easily and efficiently
Headphones
Bring your Chromebook with you every day (unless told otherwise) and make sure it is charged
3-Ring Binder with 5 Tab dividers:
handouts, notes, classwork, drawings, projects
Students will keep these in the classroom
Bring pencils every day
12" Ruler with 1/16" tick marks (plastic, wood or metal ruler is fine)
If you're absent: Check our Google Classroom everyday for daily announcements, assignments, notes, etc.
When you get back to school please see me to receive anything given out in class and/or to review anything specific that you may have missed.
If you need extra help, please ask! I am a big advocate for asking for help.
Students are graded in four main categories:
Projects & Drawings
Classwork & written assignments
Quizzes & other formal assessments
Class participation/ class performance
ALL students will be required to take safety assessments before they can operate any tool or machine.
Students are REQUIRED TO GET AN 100% on all Safety Assessments in order to use the tools.
If they do not, they will be required to re-take the assessment until they receive 100%
ALL students must wear safety glasses when we are actively working on projects
