6th Grade Art. The focus is on Medieval Art, Renaissance and Impressionism periods.
Students develop technical skills applicable to advancing in art expertise. Seventh grade
students discuss and classify both their own art and famous works as they relate to each
project. They create artwork with a greater understanding of the use of symbolism and
emotion as they make individual choices. Students analyze consistently through the
course critiquing and utilizing vocabulary within the elements and principles of art.
Students understand how different types of art evolved throughout different cultures.
Students gain an understanding that art is an integral part of their environment and life
experience. Art curricula are sequential with respect to increased depth from 6th grade to
the 7th grade program.
