The Math 7 curriculum links to and builds on students’ prior mathematics experiences, provides for the acquisition and mastery of essential skills, and introduces new concepts or revisits familiar ones in greater depth. There is a strong emphasis on understanding of and computing with rational numbers, rates and ratios, algebraic expressions and equations, statistical thinking, area and volume. It is important for all students to have access to a rich curriculum that enables them to acquire a solid knowledge of mathematics, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to reason effectively, so that they will be well prepared for eighth grade math and beyond. In order to develop the foundation needed for the formal study of algebra and geometry, the seventh grade curriculum challenges students to think about mathematics, work collaboratively, and solve meaningful problems.
General Supplies for all Classes:
A 2" binder for your periods 1-3 classes, a 1" binder for your periods 4-6 classes and a 2" binder for your periods 7-9 classes (we believe this will work best for our new rotating schedule)
A pencil case stocked with black or blue pens, pencils, eraser, highlighter, red pen, reinforcements, etc.
A homework folder
2-3 Round Spring O-rings so you can connect your pencil pouch, assignment pad, and homework folder (you can bring this with you all day)
Supplies we will use regularly in math this year:
A section in your binder for your math papers. Three dividers in this section labeled "MATH NOTES", "MATH PRACTICE" and "MATH ASSESSMENTS"
Loose leaf paper
Pencils with erasers
(2 or 3) 1-subject notebooks (used one at a time throughout the year)
Red pen
Highlighter
Ear buds or headphones (consider storing in a baggie in your pencil case)

Optional:
Basic four-function calculator (optional; we use the TI-34 in class)
Handheld pencil sharpener and 3 hole punch (optional but highly recommended)
I also humbly request classroom donations of hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and

Throughout the year, you will need access to the internet and a printer. If you do not have these at home, you can use our school library or come speak to me about alternate methods of accessing class assignments.
