Hello! I am very excited to introduce myself as your child's 3rd grade teacher this year. My name is Miss Sarno, and I believe that learning should be a fun and engaging experience for every student.
I have always had a passion for teaching and working with young learners. I graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Elementary Education and I am going on year 6 of teaching at Tamaques School. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with students from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities, which has helped me develop a flexible and inclusive teaching style.
In my classroom, I strive to create a positive and nurturing environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and expressing their thoughts. I believe in the power of hands-on and interactive learning, and I incorporate various teaching strategies and methodologies to cater to different learning styles. My goal is to make learning enjoyable and meaningful while building a strong foundation of knowledge and skills.
Parents and guardians play a crucial role in a child's education, and I believe in maintaining open lines of communication. I encourage regular communication and collaboration with families to ensure that together, we can provide the best possible support for your child's learning and growth.
Aside from teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring the outdoors (mostly the beach!). I also enjoy playing with my dogs, Cash and Canelo, cooking, traveling, and curling up with a good book! I also like to go on hikes with friends, visit new places, and listen to music!
In addition, I am a strong advocate for promoting kindness, respect, and empathy in the classroom. I incorporate social-emotional learning into our daily routine, teaching students important life skills such as conflict resolution, teamwork, and self-regulation. Creating a safe and supportive community within our classroom is a priority for me.
As an educator, I am committed to professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in education. I actively seek out opportunities for growth and attend conferences and workshops to enhance my teaching strategies and pedagogy.
I am thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with your child and look forward to getting to know them as individuals with unique strengths and interests. Together, we will embark on a year of growth, exploration, and success. Thank you for entrusting your child's education to me. Here's to a fantastic year of learning and discovery!
