WestFest 2023 Unveils Exciting Lineup Featuring Local and Acclaimed Artists

Edmonton, AB - Friday, June 9, 2023 - WestFest, the highly anticipated community music festival, is thrilled to announce its stellar lineup for its inaugural run in 2023. Taking place on Canada Day, Saturday July 1 in Webber Greens Park in Lewis Estates, WestFest promises a day of unforgettable performances, local talent, from an unprecedented collaboration between communities.

Headlining the festival is the renowned Canadian folk rock band Captain Tractor. Hailing from Edmonton, Captain Tractor has become a local legend with their punk-influenced variant of Celtic folk music. Known for their energetic performances and richly crafted songs, Captain Tractor is sure to captivate the audience with their local charm and musical prowess.

Joining the lineup before our headliner is Ayla Brook & The Sound Men, another exceptional local act. Ayla Brook, a singer-songwriter from Lily Plain, Saskatchewan, leads the band with their captivating roots-rock sound. Their latest album, Desolation Sounds, has garnered critical acclaim, showcasing their ability to blend upbeat classic rock elements with indie rock vibes and country-folk influences.

The festival kicks off with a stellar opening act lineup, including Sammy Volkov, Ben Sures, and The Borch Brothers. These talented artists are well known across the Edmonton music scene and are set to deliver captivating performances that highlight their unique styles and creative expressions.

In addition to the incredible music lineup, WestFest offers a range of activities throughout the day. Starting the morning off with a delicious pancake breakfast from 9am to 11:30am, attendees can fuel up for a day filled with entertainment. Explore the local artisan market, bounce houses at the Kids Zone, and indulge in a variety of food trucks serving mouthwatering delights, and don’t forget sociables in the licensed beer gardens in collaboration with the Lewis Estates Canadian Brewhouse. The festival also encourages attendees to bring a non-perishable food donation to support Edmonton’s Food Bank.

Tickets for WestFest can be claimed through Eventbrite. Limited availability, so be sure to secure your spot early. We strongly encourage all attendees to use alternative modes of transportation, such as walking, biking, or utilizing park and ride options, as parking will be extremely limited. Bring your chairs, your picnic blankets, and your family to enjoy this fantastic Canada Day!

About the Communities of WestFest

WestFest is a collaborative effort of the Lewis Estates Community League (LECL) and five neighbouring community leagues: Rosenthal, Big Lake, Glastonbury, Secord, and Aldergrove. These community leagues are at the heart of their respective neighbourhoods, working tirelessly to promote a safer, more active, and inclusive community environment. They organize events, provide support, and fundraise for infrastructure projects that enhance the quality of life for residents.

With a combined population of over 50,000 people across 19,000 households, these communities have come together to create one of the biggest community league collaborations in West Edmonton’s history. By joining forces, they aim to highlight the importance of community engagement, foster connections among neighbours, and celebrate the diverse talents within their communities.
