Thank you for considering submitting your piece of work to Westerville North’s digital arts publication, The Silhouette! We’re glad to have you. However, in order to create a publication of quality work and that can be enjoyed by the entire school, we have a few key expectations for submissions.
First, we do not accept work containing any obscene language. This means no curse words, slurs, or vulgar language will be tolerated. We understand that sometimes well written pieces have such terms, and we do not mean to impinge on your creativity, however, we encourage you to submit those pieces elsewhere, to someplace not affiliated with the school.
Second, no explicit adult content will be permitted. This includes, but is not limited to: erotica, smut, or graphic depictions of violence.
Third, The Silhouette will not publish any hateful content. Any pieces or work expressing or promoting racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, or otherwise discriminatory content will not be considered for publication and will be automatically declined.
The Silhouette reserves the right to deny publication to any pieces that would not be appropriate for an underage viewership.
All submissions should be submitted to our Google Form or turned into the submissions drop box located outside of Room 133 and should include the following information:
First and Last Name
Grade Level
Type of Piece (story, creative nonfiction, poetry, photography, artwork, video, or music)
Title of Piece

Writing must be submitted as either a Microsoft Word Document or a Google Doc. Paper copies placed in the submissions drop box must either be typed or printed in either pencil or black or blue ink in neat handwriting. Please make sure if you submit via Google Docs, that you share the document properly with The Silhouette to enable us to view it.
Photography and artwork is best submitted digitally as a JPEG or PNG file. If you want to submit the original pieces in the WLC Mrs. Baryon can help you make a digital file.
Music must also be submitted digitally as an MP3 file.
Videos can submitted as MP4 files. The best method is probaby shared through Google Drive.
Certain details may need to be specified -- in example: if it is a contest submission or not, whether you'd like to be anonymous or under a pen name, etc.
Either an email address or some other means of communication so that we can contact you if we have any questions and so we can inform you if your piece has been selected to be published.
After your piece has been reviewed by the committee, and we have decided whether it will be published, we will contact you either via email or your advisory teacher to let you know.
Thank you for supporting The Silhouette!
Sincerely,
The Silhouette Staff
