During the game, the main role of diplomats is to represent their clan abroad and secure alliances with other teams. Diplomats may go on as many diplomatic missions as they want during each Action Phase, and meet with other teams or diplomats with the ultimate goal of negotiating treaties and striking deals that are to the benefit of their team.
Additionally diplomats should attempt to sway other clans to their side to attempt to raise the honor of their clan. Each turn every diplomat can raise or lower the honor of a clan they don't belong to by reporting to Diplomacy Control.
Players can send as many letters through the post as they want during this time, and mail is collected at regular intervals by Intelligence Control. Make sure to always write the “to:” address so that Control knows where to deliver your mail. These can be addressed to a team or a specific player. Keep in mind that mail can be lost in transit, or even intercepted by your enemies!
During the Winter turn, players are unable to visit other teams unless they risk life and limb on Japan’s treacherous winter roads. If players need a face to face with another turn they should ask Game Control for one and they will be briefed on the risks involved. Otherwise, players should use post during the Winter turns.
