SMART at WU

For almost three years The SMART program has provided the opportunity for students to work directly with startup and well-established companies on a variety of challenges and opportunities. This session explored how the SMART program provides students with gain practical learning experience that is relevant, scalable, and holistic.  The presenter also discussed how WU students are well prepared to address the needs of employers in a broad range of fields whether seeking their first job, promotion or establishing a business of their own.

TRAILBLAZER AWARD

The Trailblazer Award recognizes originality, forward thinking, and novel methodologies while honoring those who pioneer new paths and challenge conventional norms. This award highlights the presenter's ability to think outside the box, push boundaries and dares to explore uncharted territory and make a lasting impact.

Cloud-Controlled Sanitary-Pad Vending Machine: Stress-Free School days during Menstruation

Why are female students absent from school during menstrual days in third-world countries? This presentation demonstrated the development and implementation of Cloud-Controlled Sanitary-Pad Vending Machines at Schools in Nepal that solve the fear of asking for pads. Participants discussed this innovation and were inspired by its social cause.

The Research Excellence Award celebrates the ability to generate meaningful insights through research. It also honors individuals who exemplify rigor and precision in their research endeavors, and highlights the presenter's commitment to advancing knowledge and understanding in their field. This awards rewards the meticulous approach to research and its impact on the broader academic community.

Job Satisfaction Among Community College Deans

During this session,  participants discovered what job satisfaction means to them. Discussions included what factors contribute to intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction. Participants were challenged to think about what keeps them satisfied in their roles. They also explored ways to have more job satisfaction if there is job dissatisfaction. Finally, they brainstormed together on tips and tricks to stay satisfied on the job.
