Our instructions will show you how to make a one-of-a-kind batik painting using traditional materials and techniques that have been passed down through centuries. Gather all of the necessary materials, including the cloth, wax, wax pot, tjanting instrument, dye, paintbrush, and stretcher.
To avoid wrinkles, cut the cloth to the correct size and stretch it on the stretcher.
Let the initial coat of wax to dry on the fabric using a tjanting tool.
Prepare the dye and use a paintbrush to apply it to the cloth, being careful to cover the unwaxed parts. Let it to dry.
Let the wax to dry in the places where you wish to preserve the initial coat of color.
Steps 4 and 5 should be repeated for each additional coating of color.
Remove the wax from the cloth by ironing it and washing it to remove any excess colour. Let it to dry completely.
Note: Before applying each coat of color, make sure to cover the sections you wish to maintain with wax.
