Overview of the Movement
The term “third-wave feminism” refers to the feminist movement that occurred from the late 1980s - 2010 before social media led to the "fourth-wave" of activism. Third-wave activists took up similar issues as previous waves, but leaders became increasingly concerned with workplace issues such as sexual discrimination and harassment. Some women sought to challenge traditional gender and beauty expectations, while the cause as a whole became increasingly concerned with the rights of women of color, non-heterosexual, and nonbinary women.
