Map shows food deserts in the United States. A "food desert" is defined "as regions of the country often feature large proportions of households with low incomes, inadequate access to transportation, and a limited number of food retailers providing fresh produce and healthy groceries for affordable prices." (United States Dept. of Agriculture)
For this activity you will be making a visual guide to either food or housing injustice (you make pick another area of interest with permission from your teacher). Your visual representation can take any for you would like as long as it covers Social Studies skills 2.2 and 2.3 and the skill descriptors. Ask your teacher if you have questions. Check out the example below. Your visualization may be paper or digital.
