MILESTONE 1, STEPPING STONE 1
MILESTONE 1, STEPPING STONE 1
In this Stepping Stone, we will look at real world examples of congruence and coordinate geometry.
1. Look at the examples below.
2. Reflect on your own life. Where do you think congruence or modeling geometric properties is seen in real life?
3. Use the Student Tools below to share your examples. It's okay if they're not perfect! You have not gone through this studio yet. Just put down your ideas.
When two things are congruent, it means they are the same. They have the same shape, size, angles, etc.
The triangles in this Ferris wheel are congruent.
It's just like identical twins!
The prefix "geo" means earth and the suffix "metry" means the process of measuring, so "geometry" means earth measure. On a globe or map, the grid system of latitudes and longitudes is used to identify locations. This is similar to using x- and y-coordinates of a Cartesian plane to identify locations. This will connect to the performance task for this studio.
Option #1:
Take pictures and upload them!
Option #2:
Draw or write your ideas! You can use pencil and paper or any electronic method that you like.
Option #3:
Google your ideas to get photos!
Or type it up!
Or do it another way! Express your ideas however you like.
