OUR ROLES:
The learning specialists work closely with teachers, parents and students throughout the year to support students’ academic, as well as social-emotional needs. During the school day, they often push-in to classrooms to work with small groups of students, team teach lessons to the whole group, or work with a small groups. Learning specialists also work with individual students and small groups in the Learning Lab.
The learning specialists can provide families with referrals for educational therapy and other services such as language and speech, occupational therapy, or counseling. They coordinate regular team meetings that facilitate a partnership between students and families, outside services and the school in order to develop an individualized learning plan for students’ specific educational needs.
