G Suite (Google Apps) for Education is a suite of tools that can help our students increase opportunities for critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, all while supporting the learning objectives that our teachers have created for our students. These tools are already used by millions of students in schools around the world. Besides being free, the best thing is that these tools are relevant to students, easy to use, and open doors to many new ways to learn. G Suite Apps are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, use only one login name for everything, collaborative, and can be used on any device and across many different platforms. Our primary focus will be on using and understanding Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.

Gmail: Gmail is a free, web-based email platform that offers SPAM protection and is completely ad-free in G Suite for Education accounts.

Google Drive: Google Drive allows you to store your files securely and access them from any device, as well as create, open and edit your files. You have UNLIMITED storage space with G Suite for Education.

Google Docs: Google Docs is a free, web-based word processing tool that allows you to create and edit documents online and collaborate in real-time.

Google Sheets: Google Sheets is a free, web-based spreadsheet tool that allows you to create and edit spreadsheets online and collaborate in real-time. It is great for data analysis and organization.

Google Slides: Google Slides is a free, web-based presentation tool that allows you to create and edit presentations online.

Assignments

Lesson 1 - Google Docs, Compare Applications and Apps - Create a Google Doc comparing and contrasting Google Docs to Microsoft Word.

Lesson 2 - Google Docs, All About Me Doc - Using MLA formatting, inserting a table, and creating a graphic bubble chart using words to describe themselves.

Lesson 3 - Google Slides, All About Me Slideshow - Using the information in the All About Me Doc, create a 9 slide slideshow presentation. Students will focus on proper layout design, font and color consistency, proper citation of website resources, and information preciseness.

Lesson 4 - Google Sheets, Fast Food Fun Spreadsheet and Chart - Create a spreadsheet and chart of the nutritional value of a fast food meal. Students will focus on proper spreadsheet creation, using basic formulas, and generating different charts representing the results.
