Guidelines:
Washington Elementary School District participates in a mandatory Trip Reduction Program sponsored by Maricopa County. Anyone who employs 50 or more people must participate and report results to the County. Through that program we encourage our staff to use alternative transportation to get to school and work and in so doing reduce carbon emissions into the air.
Some of the alternative modes of transportation supported by our District include walking, bicycling, taking the bus, light rail, and car or van pooling. We support these activities by having bike racks at our campuses, preferred parking spaces, emergency transportation from school/work for those registered in the trip reduction program and a quarterly awards program and drawing for those actively participating.
In order to motivate staff to participate in the Trip Reduction Program (TRP), we will be doing monthly drawings for prizes for those who participate in the TRP. Only participants in the Trip Reduction Program can enter the drawings.
Each campus is to designate a Trip Reduction Coordinator to communicate information about the Trip Reduction Program to staff, sign them up as applicable for participation in the program and to handle program reporting to the District Office.
