PBIS / The Acacia Way

What is PBIS?

The Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional and academic success. Along with Acacia, many schools within the Washington Elementary School District use PBIS to promote and maximize academic achievement and behavioral competence.

What is “The Acacia Way”?

Our PBIS initiative, “The Acacia Way”, utilizes three clear expectations for the behaviors we desire in all areas of our school:

Use My Words

Respect Others Personal Space

Respect all aspects of the Acacia Community including myself

These expectations are visible and modeled in every location around campus. Starting the first day of school, your student(s) will be learning about “The Acacia Way” through engaging classroom lessons, modeling, PBIS videos and lots of practice. We encourage your student(s) to share their “Acacia Way” knowledge with their families. We look forward to celebrating students who follow “The Acacia Way”.

The Acacia Way Pledge

I pledge to use my words, respect others’ personal space, and all aspects of the Acacia community including myself. I am a valued member of the Acacia family. We are Acacia and together we can do anything!
