Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS)

This year, we will be implementing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support). As a school and community, we have identified 3 school wide expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe. We have also identified areas for our virtual learning that we know our Lobos can demonstrate. In addition, we have added areas outside of virtual learning that families can assist student(s) with demonstrating these expectations. Here is how PBIS will look like:

  • Post the attached matrix close to where your student(s) will be attending their virtual classes. Staff will be referring to the matrix starting on the first day of school. Leaving it posted will help your student(s) know the expectations for their classes and independent work time.

  • Staff will be recognizing students that meet expectations during live instruction and during their independent work time (i.e. completing assignments, turning in their work). Students may receive a Howl ticket in recognition. Students will know that they have received a Howl ticket because the staff will acknowledge them during class time (Sarah, you are receiving a Howl ticket for being respectful. I like how you muted yourself when joining class).

  • Howl tickets are virtual. Twice a week, on random days, there will be a drawing of all the Howl tickets received. Ten names will be drawn. Staff members will attend homeroom of students that won and make the announcement. Students will also be recognized on social media (please make sure to like Arroyo School on Facebook).

  • (Virtual) prizes will be given to students whose names have been drawn.

Optional:

  • We are also providing expectations for the home. You can change those to meet your family needs. Additionally, you can create your own ticket system to use at home. If you need suggestions on how to implement an at home ticket system, please fill free to reach out to Donna Cook at Donna.Cook@wesdschools.org
