What is Destiny Discover
An online database of our books AND WESD approved research websites. Students (and parents with a Lakeview library account) can browse as a guest or login for additional features. Destiny can be reached from an internet enabled device by going todestiny.wesdschools.org
There is also a Google extension which shows Destiny search results while using Google. See below for details.
What are the advantages of using Destiny?
BOOKS: Destiny allows students to view and search what books are in the school library-- this is a great way to enable your child to build tech skills and find interesting books without the time constraints during library visits. You can help your student write down titles and call numbers to look for on Library Day.
View what books you have checked out or fines owed.
Place books on hold & see if they are ready.
"Favorite" books to create a list of what you want to read next.
Use premade citations for bibliographies.
RESEARCH: We live in a time of "information overload" and many students don't know the difference between reliable and unreliable websites. Destiny automatically searches educator-selected CREDIBLE web sources in an easy to navigate format unlike the millions of results Google finds.
Create "collections" to save all your research websites in one place.
How do we login to Destiny?
All enrolled students have a default login:
EXAMPLES
USERNAME: 6-digit ID numberSTUDENT: Miles BurkePARENT: Sue Smith (602-333-1234)
PASSWORD: last nameUsername: 123456Username: PAR1234
include hyphens or spaces if applicablePassword: burkePassword: PAR1234
Destiny now has a great Google extension which allows students to search in Google AND see results from our Destiny catalog, including reliable sources for research projects and curious minds! Get the extensionHERE. You will need to install the program and then visit the Lakeview Destiny website for it to sync up.
Lost or Damaged Library Books
Lakeview trusts students and families to treat borrowed books with care and respect. We also know accidents happen. If a book is lost or damaged, please let Mrs. Eastin know right away. If the book is damaged, bring it in and we'll see if it can be repaired.
If fines are incurred, we have several options to help students take responsibility for mistakes with little to no cost depending on what works for your family. Questions? Email Mrs. Eastin at rhonda.eastin@wesdschools.org
Can I renew a book?
Books can be renewed if you are not finished reading them. Just bring the book back on your regular library day, and Mrs. Eastin will renew it for you.
