Amazon Fire Tablets come with their own Appstore Appstore which is rather limited. Always search the Amazon App store first for an app. The apps in that store are vetted by amazon and are sure to work.
If an app cannot be found in the Amazon Appstore, it is possible to load the Google Play store onto an Amazon Fire tablet to gain access to all Android Apps.
I have followed these instructions and they worked well to get the Google Play store loaded onto an Amazon Fire Tablet. Be sure to install everything in the correct order for it to work.

After the Google Play Store is installed, many of the same resources listed below will be available.
Keyboard Options:
If students are doing a lot of typing using a tablet, it may be worth investing in a Bluetooth Keyboard if you are able to. These keyboards have not been tested by us. Here are some inexpensive options from Amazon that receive good reviews. If a bluetooth keyboard says it is compatible with Android, it should work with Amazon Fire Tablets as they are built on Android. These options should work with Android, Amazon Fire, or IOS devices:
Anker Bluetooth Ultra-Slim - Current $15.98 on Amazon
Arteck HB030B - Current $20.99 on Amazon (Amazon Best Seller)
Microcenter located in Mayfield also has many Bluetooth keyboard options. Their staff can help you select the appropriate device for your device.
If getting a Bluetooth keyboard isn’t an option, Google Docs also has a great Keyboard and Speech recognition app.
