At Pioneer Middle School, we follow three personal standards of citizenship & behavior; show respect, make good decisions, and solve problems.
8th Grade Core - Language Arts and United States History.
Language Arts - This is a year long class that works with the Springboard curriculum. Springboard is a pre-AP type of course designed to provide students with critical thinking & problem solving skills necessary for advanced AP or other college placement classes. We provide students with the tools necessary to analyze high level reading texts and support for writing in multiple genres. All assessments in this class will be completed in class, during class time.
U.S. History - This is a year long class. 8th Grade U.S. History is a survey course that will cover current events alongside time periods in our nation's history that cover Colonization to Reconstruction. Unfortunately, there is WAY too much to cover in an in-depth fashion, so this is very much a survey course and students will have more homework than they may have in other classes. This class is also project-based, which means that most, if not all, assessments will be in the form of some type of project. Students are STRONGLY encouraged to work on these projects at home, as well as in class.
All assignments and project details for can be accessed through Google Classroom or on the assignment calendar link on your child's Core class page. Because some of the assignments vary in my classes, please make sure to choose the correct class for your student.
