Term 4
26.02.2026
We have started term 4 by learning all about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. We even used chopstick and made muddy noodles in forest school! This week we have finished our phase 3 phonics and next week we move on to phase 4 where we will be using adjacent consonant sounds such as 'ft' and 'bl'. In maths we have been thinking about numbers greater than 5 and how they can be show as 5 and a bit, we have used our fingers and tens frames to show that, for example 5 and 3 more is 8 altogether. We have also started guided reading this week and you may notice an "I read in a group today" stamp in your child's reading record. As part of our reading rotation the children will read in a group twice a week and answer questions about the text. When not reading they are looking for digraphs and trigraphs in words or writing their own labels for pictures.
Please enjoy the photos below of some of our activities this week.
Term 3

We have loved learning about different animal habitats this term.
We have also learned how to play golf, got very muddy in forest school and have been to the library!

We are starting 2026 learning about animal habitats. This week we have been learning aboiut Polar habitats. Our drawing club book is Jonty Gentoo, it is about a penguin who escapes from the zoo to find where the other penguins live in the wild. Our explorer centre has been very popular as we investigate where different animals live.
Have a look at our 'Learning in Reception' page to see what else we will be focussing on this term.

A great start to term 2. This term we our topic is light and dark and we started off with a fizz and a bang for bonfire night. We watched fireworks, listened to stories about bonfire night and made up a bonfire night dance! check out our firework pictures below. We made them by using cut off cotton buds and very careful fine motor skills to dip them into paint and create dots on the black paper.
Term 1
10.10.2025
We have had a fantastic few weeks. Everyone is settled, learning and playing together. We have made bread and soup, gone on drawing club adventures and had so much fun in forest school. Have a look at the pictures below and remember to look on seesaw to see more of our learning.

What a lovely start to the school year. The children in Wren class have started school so well. The focus has been on learning our routines and expectations and I am so proud of them. They especially loved their forest school session with Mrs Harvey, playing "123 where are you".
The seesaw app is already filling up with all the things the children are learning and we love sharing it all with you.
