Welcome to Kestrel Class
We are so excited for the amazing year we are going to have together. This is a place where we’ll be learning, laughing, and making great memories. In Kestrel Class, we believe in a few key things that will make this year fantastic:
Having fun: Learning should be an adventure! We will be doing lots of activities and projects that are engaging and exciting. When we have fun, we remember what we learn, and it makes coming to school even better.
Trying hard: It's not about being perfect; it's about giving your best effort. We encourage everyone to try new things and push themselves. When you try hard, you show great resilience, and that’s a skill that will help you for life.
Giving it a go: Don’t be afraid to take a risk! We want to create an environment where everyone feels safe to "give it a go," even if they're not sure how it will turn out. It's how we learn and grow.
Supporting each other: We are a team. We will cheer each other on, celebrate our successes, and help each other when things are tough. By working together, we can achieve more than we ever could alone.
This is going to be a year full of laughs, learning, and opportunities for everyone to be a leader. We want to provide lots of chances for each of you to shine, and we are also looking forward to working with you, our families, to bring our community even closer.
We can't wait to share this incredible journey with you all. Let's make this the best year ever!

It has been another busy week in Kestrel Class! As part of Anti Bullying week we have been thinking about what a good friend looks like. We drew around a member of the class and wrote words to describe a good friend inside the image.
Today, to celebrate Children in Need, we started the day with a challenge to make the tallest card tower. We had varying levels of success but everyone persevered and we were fantastic at supporting each other. We also spent some time thinking about mindfulness, relaxation and being part of a team, choosing games that we would like to play.
Thank you to all of the parents who came to our Parents in PE session on Wednesday morning, we all had a fantastic time!

In maths, we started the week learning about factors. We made arrays for different numbers to identify the factor pairs.
We have also been multiplying by 10 and 100, using place value charts and counters to understand what is happening to the digits when we multiply.

As part of our PSHE learning we have been thinking about how it feels to be part of a team. We recognised that teamwork can be fun, supportive, inspiring and also competitive.

This week, in English, we have been researching Ancient Greek Gods, and writing fact files about them. We have used our extra facts from our homework to help us. We have found out about some fascinating ancient Greek stories!
In science, we have been continuing our learning about electricity. We have been experimenting with switches, trying to create our own using different conductors.

What a wonderful week it's been in Kestrel Class! We've been busy with exciting activities both inside and outside the classroom.
We had a fantastic trip to Midsomer Norton Library, where the children loved exploring the books and learning about all the services the library offers. It was lovely to see their enthusiasm for reading! In Forest School, we got hands-on and creative by making our very own spinning tops—the children showed great concentration and teamwork to craft them.
Finally, we finished creating and detailing our incredible mythical beasts. The imagination and effort put into these creations were truly amazing! We're so proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm from everyone in Kestrel Class this week.

Another super week in Year 4! Children have been busy learning about circuits, Roman Numerals and The Mediterranean. We have also been writing our own descriptions and creating mythical beasts. The children typed these up and asked Gemini to create them. Here are some of the beasts they made. We are so proud of them. Keep up the great work and have a lovely weekend.

What a great start to term Kestrel class have had. We have begun learning about our history topic for this term - the ancient greeks. The children have loved hearing the myths and the gruesome stories. We have also been enjoying our class text: 'The Magic Thief'.
This week, we have also started our forest school sessions with Mrs Harvey. Children loved using knives and peelers to whittle their own stick people! We cannot wait to see what next week brings.
Meet our wonderful team.
