Photography Club
For the longest time, I have always loved taking candid pictures as well as treating them. When I found out that there was a photography club at wells I joined instantly. I took pictures for almost every home and away game for both basketball and volleyball as well as events outside school such as the Chinese New Year event where the school's mascot, including the school band, visited the Bang Na campus to celebrate Chinese New Year with the primary kids. Taking action photos, especially in sports is honestly not as easy as people think it is. To be honest I also struggled at the start however, with the help of the senior (club leader) I was able to take so many good action photos for the school's team.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
Volunteering at a dog's shelter
I started volunteering at a dog shelter since the start of 2019 summer and went back to help the shelter during my Grade 11 summer. I have always loved and care deeply about dogs. During the pass 13 years of living here in Thailand, I have seen way too many street dogs wandering around all by themselves without any food or home. Dogs are not capable of taking care of themselves, us humans should be responsible for taking care of them if one decided to get a dog not just get them when you want and leave them on the road when you have decided that you are no longer responsible for them.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Recognise and consider the ethnics of choice and actions
These are some of the dogs I took care of at the shelter. It was honestly one of the best experience I have ever had in my life. When you think about street dogs, honestly many people would think that they are dangerous because no one trained them and had been taking care of them. A part of that might be true but on the other hand from my experience, dogs that came into the shelter are one of the sweetest dogs i have ever met. Some of them are so playful and gentle, some took them a while to trust us humans again due to their past experience but as time passed by I could see the progress that they are slowly trusting us to take care of them. During my time at the shelter, 7 dogs got adopted. Some was sent to Canada and many other places around the world. Seeing them leave the shelter was incredibly sad because of the connection I have with them but a part of me was filled with joy. They were all so happy to be with their forever home.
