Cas Project
Investigation
This step of investigation was basically looking at other sports account and tried learning how to edits the pictures as well as ways to attract other users. I along with my partner (Bianca Castillo Co'24) had to try finding the best fonts and the best theme that matches the school's theme.
Preparation
During this step, I had to learn and planned out days and when to post as well as gather informations of all the athletes in school as well as their grades and the position they play for the team. I prepared an email proposing the idea to Mr. Ray and Dr. Katina about creating an account for the school's athletes as well as an email account.
Action
The first action Bianca and I took was to send the email to Mr. Ray proposing the idea after the idea was approved we then emailed Dr. Katina asking her to help us create a seahawks email connected to the school so that it would be easier for us to past the account down to the next generation that would take over the account for both of us when we graduate. The next action was to create an account and page on the two social media platforms which are Instagram and Facebook. During this process, I had to create a logo for the account on canva. I decided to use the school's spirit animal which is a seahawk as the main focus on the logo. Then I added "Seahawks athletes" around the seahawk. I used the colour yellow as the background due to the fact that the school's colour is blue and yellow. During this process, we had to find out all the information about when the games and the tournament would be as well as what to keep track of all the scores.
Creating an Instagram and Facebook page as well as designing the logo and the school's slogan
Announcement regarding home and away games
Introducing all the athletes in school during that school year
Reflection
During the semester 1 break around Christmas, I along with Bianca Castillo (class of 2024) decided that we wanted to start an account on social media introducing and showing appreciation to our school's athletes. It took a really long time for us to plan until we were able to purpose the idea to Mr. Ray and Dr. Katina. After our idea got approved, Bianca and I started creating an account on Facebook and Instagram. By taking control of the school's athlete account I was able to learn so much in the progress not only did I create a connection and friendship with Bianca. I was also able to learn how to manage my time due to the fact that it was my first year of IB and I had a lot of work as well as training for squash almost every day. We had to keep in contact with a lot of different people in order to find out when and where the games were as well as how the game went. It was really challenging at the start trying to keep up with everything and trying to post as well as keeping the account active as much as we could.
CAS Outcomes
1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
5: Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Demonstration
I really enjoyed starting this account for the school. Honestly, I am also really proud of what Bianca and I have accomplished with the account. It was incredibly stressful at the start however, we both eventually got the hang of it. In my personal experience, I have found that working collaboratively with others has been highly successful. Whether it has been in a professional or personal context, I have found that working with others towards a shared goal has helped me to achieve more than I would have been able to on my own. Through collaboration, I have been able to learn from others, develop new skills, and achieve my goals in a more efficient and effective way. Another important benefit of working collaboratively is the sense of community and connection that it can create. When you work closely with others towards a shared goal, you develop a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose. This can help to foster a sense of belonging and connection that can be incredibly fulfilling and motivating.
