The Power of Agency -- Drs. Anthony Rao and Paul Napper
What is human agency? Agency is the ability to act as an effective agent for yourself - getting your mind, body, and emotions in balance to think clearly, advocate for yourself, and make choices that create a successful and meaningful life.
The link below allows you to take the Agency Practices Inventory, a brief assessment of your level of agency enhancing behaviors. The API provides feedback on the seven principles of agency that successful people use to be more focused, make better decisions, and achieve their goals. This is a fun exercise with no right or wrong answers. You can't fail! We all have the potential for greater agency, but the pace of life is so fast today that we often lose sight of what matters most. When people learn to utilize these principles in their lives, they experience a higher level of agency and report feeling more confident. They also report less anxiety and feel more in charge of their lives.

We suggest you take the assessment the test by October 7th, so the authors can pool our results and can share aggregated results at our PTSO meeting on October 10th. Note that the survey is anonymous, and no individual results will be shared with the group.
If you have any questions about the test, please contact Dr. Anthony Rao at (dranthonyrao@gmail.com).

Welcome back... get the kids to the club(s)!!
We've had a lot of great conversations and planning over the Summer so please keep your eyes on these PTSO e-mails for the latest and greatest from Challenge Success. Some early CS@WHS focus areas for the 2019-20 school year are: Transitions, Community, and Agency. More to come.
As you will hopefully recall, research shows adolescents need PDF (Playtime, Downtime, Family Time) every day for healthy development. One of the vital ways we accomplish both Playtime and Downtime is thru the WHS ERP program. Kids can sign-up, show-up/drop-in anytime, and even start a new club that interests them and friends with a faculty sponsor. Most of these activities occur after school but there will be a new before school game club (board, cards, etc.) on Fridays! Yoga will also be added to the mix thanks to Amie Larson and ERP team along with Wellesley Recreation and Community Investors.
To learn more and get in the action please have your student attend the "Club Fair" on Wednesday Sept. 11 from 10:50am-12:20pm in the WHS Cafe.
