214 Foundations of World History I 9 CP/ 225 Foundations of World History II 10 CP

Gr 9 and Gr 10 | 6 Credits per Foundations Course | Year-Long | 5x per Cycle | *Eligible by Recommendation Only*

This two-year course is designed to give 9th and 10th grade students an opportunity to develop skills that help build a working knowledge of world history. Topically, the course will focus on major historical processes and events between the 16th century and today: the Columbian Exchange, industrialization and urbanization, imperialism, the 20th century’s world wars, revolutions, decolonization, and globalization. Intensive support for reading, writing, and critical thinking skills is provided. Materials and assignments can be differentiated to meet individual needs. The course is co-taught by members of the Social Studies and Special Education Departments.

Each year is credited independently of the other, allowing students to either remain in Foundations or enroll in a different history survey in the second year.
