231 U.S. History 11 H

 Gr 11 | 6 Credits | Year-Long | 5x per Cycle

This is a course designed for highly motivated history students who wish to explore topics in depth. Students will be expected to work independently and complete assignments approximating one chapter each week from a college level text, participate fully in class discussions about issues raised in the readings, and comprehensively interpret and evaluate material in writing. Students will write several essays, one of which will be historiographical.  A variety of historical sources will be examined to get at the complexities in U.S. History. Completion of a substantial summer assignment is required for this course.  This course is designed and will be considered to be offered at the same level designation as AP U.S. History.
