Sponsored by the WHS Performing Arts Department, the co-curricular after-school Moving Company provides students with opportunities to express themselves through the medium of dance and to share these achievements with the Wellesley community. This dance ensemble presents an annual spring performance, Footnotes. If possible, opportunities to perform with dancers from community ensembles and area high schools will be available. Opportunities for members to attend choreography workshops and choreograph original dance pieces are available. Former members of the Junior Moving Company (JMC) at WMS and newcomers to dance with varying amounts of experience are encouraged to join.

Private lessons on instruments and voice are offered after school and in the evening on a tuition basis. Students enrolled in Music courses are encouraged to take private lessons.  It takes many years of applied studies and practice to perfect vocal and instrumental performance skills.  Students learn specific techniques through exercises and repertoire; they learn applied musicianship and artistry, and they gain experience through various genre of solo literature.  Students work continuously to improve their individual skills and musicianship that contribute to the strength of a music ensemble.  Extension teachers are selected from the ranks of the finest professional classical and jazz musicians in the Greater Boston area.  Most teachers hold a master's degree in their specialized performance field, and have a portfolio of professional recordings and are active performers.  Students enroll by the semester.  Tuition and fees are assessed, which covers 15 lessons per semester provided in a Wellesley school building.  Private lesson students must also be enrolled in a curricular band, choral, or orchestral ensemble during the school day.
