942 Theatrical Production and Design 

Gr 9 - 12 |3 Credits | Semester -Long | 5x per Cycle

This course is an introductory class for students interested in learning more about Technical Theater Production and Design. The coursework will cover all technical components (various theatre management, scenery, properties, lighting, sound, costumes, and make-up). Additionally, the course covers collaborative artwork and project management, communication, what it means to work as a creative team, and how to handle stress in creative environments. All work executed in class will directly to support the infrastructure of the Performing Arts program or connect to the WHS Drama Society productions mounted that semester. Students will learn basic stagecraft concepts and skills through active hands-on learning, group discussions, independent or small group assignments, as well as full-class projects.

 

Class members are highly encouraged to work on the after school stage crew and production staff for the Performing Arts Department productions.

 

This course is a recommended pre-requisite for the intensive course, though not required.
