930 Dance I

Gr 9 - 12 | 1.5 Credits | Semester Long | 3x per Cycle

This introductory dance course covers the fundamentals of various dance genres and their roots. Students will be introduced to diverse dance styles, including Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Latin, African, Tap, and Hip Hop. Students will explore movement through global dance forms, dance history, choreography, vocabulary, and anatomy. 


Students in this class will be eligible to participate in the spring dance concert, Footnotes, and other Performing Arts opportunities at the High School. This class is appropriate for students with or without previous dance experience. 


**If taken as a junior or senior, this course will suffice to fulfill the Physical Education requirement. If taken as a sophomore, students are still required to enroll in Health Issues. If taken in Grade 9, students are still required to enroll in Introduction to Fitness, to fulfill their Physical Education requirement. Freshmen and Sophomores can take this class as an elective in addition to their required Health and Physical Education requirements.
