922A Honors Chamber Orchestra H
Gr 9 - 12 | 6 Credits | Year-Long | 5x per Cycle
*PREREQUISITE: Audition and interview. Private lessons are strongly recommended.
Chamber Orchestra is an advanced string ensemble comprising the most advanced string players of Wellesley High School. Membership is by audition. Chamber Orchestra performs a wide variety of string orchestra literature and occasionally may perform with special guest soloists. Chamber Orchestra combines with Sinfonia for some concerts and performs in WHS Masterworks Concerts featuring full symphonic chorus and orchestra. After-school or evening rehearsals may be required to this end. Chamber Orchestra meets five days within the seven-day cycle. Participation all five days of the cycle is required. Individual practice outside of rehearsals is required. On-time class attendance is critical, and participation in private lessons is strongly recommended. This is an honors level course that will count in the computation of your Grade Point Average.

Honors Chamber Orchestra Essential Skills:
Creating:
Students will generate instrumental interpretations that integrate aesthetic and stylistic principles with personal attitude.
Performing:
Students will perform with accuracy and expression works from the professional string, chamber, and symphony orchestra repertoire (MICCA level 6 and more difficult).
Students can play all minor and major scales in all positions with both slurred by 3 (Double Bass 2) and separated bow.
Responding:
Students will analyze how one’s own cultural and personal can affect the criteria one uses to evaluate understanding and musical performance.
Connecting:
Students will explain the development of the group’s vision as an ensemble and how it is represented in a performance.
