908AW Wind Ensemble H
Gr 9 - 12 | 6 Credits | Year-Long | 5x per Cycle
*PREREQUISITE: Audition and interview. Private lessons are strongly recommended.
This advanced woodwind, brass and percussion ensemble has fixed instrumentation and will offer students a substantial playing experience performing demanding music from the standard band repertoire. Students will also learn music theory and ear training through the study of this repertoire. Membership is established by audition. Wind Ensemble members are expected to perform in all public performances that include winter and spring concerts, the MICCA Ensemble Festival, January Step-Up Concert, and other school and community events. This is an honors level course that will count in the compilation of your Grade Point Average.

Wind Ensemble Essential Skills:
Creating:
Students will generate instrumental interpretations that integrate aesthetic principles with personal style.
Performing:
Students will perform with accuracy and expression works from the instrumental repertoire at a MICCA level 3-5 (scale of 1-6).
Responding:
Students will analyze the ways one’s own culture and privilege can affect the criteria one uses to evaluate musical performance.
Connecting:
Students will explain the development of the group’s aesthetic vision as an ensemble and how it is represented in our performance.
