Gr 11 - 12 | 6 Credits | Year-Long | 5x per Cycle
The German AP Curriculum follows the AP Exam as outlined by the College Board. Students will work with 4 of the 6 college board themes throughout the year (the other two having been covered in previous years of study): Globalization, Everyday Life, Family and Community and Personal and Public Identities. Within the context of each theme, students will read articles, watch videos, discuss social issues, debate foreign policies and write in several different formats about the ideas/issues presented in class. Students will practice writing emails and persuasive essays in German. Students will also speak regularly with their peers during class. The forums for speaking will include prepared projects and presentations, group and 1 on 1 conversations as well as unrehearsed spontaneous expression. Students will read two German plays throughout the year. Students are expected to communicate in German to the best of their abilities.
Students will take the AP German Exam in May.
