•Observe plants, animals, the sky….and tell someone about what you saw on your walk when you get home. Take photos or videos to send to friends or family members.
•Collect sticks (like the first Little Pig) and rocks; order them from smallest to largest.
•Use a ruler to measure, take photos, or draw pictures to document the growth of a specific plant in your yard. Talk about the parts of the plant that appear as it is growing (e.g., stem, leaves, bud, flower). Talk about roots on trees in your yard or in a plant you dig up.
•Talk about how plants need sun, water and air to grow. Use that day’s weather as a talking point for the plants around you (e.g., “The rain today will feed all of the thirsty plants and help them grow”).
•Wear your rain gear and splash in muddy puddles. Any fan of Peppa Pig will enjoy this activity!
•Explore your garden; use prepositions like on, beside, and under to talk about what you find. Maybe you will find that worm under the dirt that the robin has been looking for.
•Fly a kite and discuss the weather that is needed to fly a kite! Incorporate vocabulary and concepts such as up, down, go, stop, fly, wind, fall.
