•Bring a net or strainer into the tub to retrieve plastic fish or treasures; count and categorize your “catch”. Take turns describing what to catch and following directions.
•Bring a doll into the tub to bathe; great way to review body parts and prepositions, e.g., “be sure to wash behind her ears.”
•Fill and empty bottles; pour water from small bottles into larger bottles. See how many small bottles it takes to fill a large bottle. Make predictions using number words and talk about water level, e.g., “let’s fill the small bottle..pour it into the big bottle...it’s half way up...one more to the top...two bottles fill it to the top.”
•Collect objects with different properties to observe and talk about sinking and floating in the tub water. Make predictions about what will happen (e.g., I think the metal spoon will sink). Talk about what you observed using past tense verbs (e.g., The metal spoon sank; The wooden spoon didn’t sink).
