Letters of Recommendation
I'm excited you are looking at opportunities that require letters! If you have not already, visit the Career Education site to read their advice on asking for letters of recommendation.
Do you want a letter of recommendation from me?
If you haven't reached out already:
Think about if I am the best person to ask given the particular role you are applying for. I want you to have the strongest possible application, and depending on the role and our work together I may or may not be your best option. I'm always happy to discuss!
Send me an email or ask privately in office hours. Briefly describe the program(s) you are applying for and why you are interested.
Give me plenty of notice to write the letter. Ideally, ask me eight weeks before the deadline. This is not always possible, but please do give me as much notice as possible.
If we've already talked about a letter of recommendation, here are the next steps:
Email me the following:
Draft of a resume
A brief informal description of
the program(s) you are applying for and why you are interested (can be copied from earlier email if already sent) and
what you are most proud of from our work together.
If you are applying to multiple programs, please create a copy of this spreadsheet, fill in the information for each of your programs, and email it to me with editing privileges.
