How to make a stop-motion video

Stop Motion Animation is a technique used in animation to bring static objects to life on screen. This is done by moving the object in increments while filming a frame per increment. When all the frames are played in sequence it shows movement. ...Some examples of movies that are stop motion animation are "The Nightmare before Christmas", "The Corpse Bride", "Chicken Run" and "Wallace and Gromit". Stop motion animation is almost as old as film itself.


Stop Motion Animator - This app found on the chrome web store is designed specifically for stop-motion. It helps you place and move objects in small steps using your computer's camera. Be sure to save and download your work before signing out.

Flipgrid - Flipgrid is a video creation and sharing tool that you can use to create stop-motion by using the pause button repeatedly. Ask a teacher to create a grid for you and you will be able to create. See below for instuctions and examples.

Stop-motion with Slides: Google Slides can be used to create stop-motion animation. Duplicate a slide and make slight adjustments, then duplicate again. Watch all slides together quickly to see your animation. Instructions below.

Stop Motion Animator:

This is a Google chrome app that has been added to your chrome book. The video to the right tells you everything you need to know, but remember to be creative. you can also use this with drawings, dry erase boards, objects, and even people!

Flipgrid for Stop Motion:

Your teacher will need to create an account and then a grid and add a topic first on Flipgrid, and then you are ready. To create the video, you will click the Red and White button for a second and then pause by clicking it again. Keep doing this and moving the object a bit each time, and you have a Flipgrid Stop Motion video! As a student, you can respond with video recordings from your laptop, iOS, or Android device. Students can have unlimited retakes, can pause and resume and can flip their camera to share their environment.
