How to make a podcast
A podcast is an audio only creation. It can be a single recording but is often an ongoing series on a particular topic. Think on-demand radio talk shows! These can be posted to a public podcast feed. Though they are audio only, creators often share "show notes" with transcripts and important information posted on a web page.
Online Voice Recorder: This simple app will allow you to record audio files, but won't allow for editing or publishing. Be sure to save them to your Google Drive before you sign out!
WeVideo: Despite it's name, you can use WeVideo for creating audio as well. Just leave off the images...
Canvas: If your teacher enables it on an assignment, you can record audio directly through Canvas! There is even an option for the teacher to publish audio discussion comments to a podcast.
Garage Band: This is a program on the mac (not a website) that will let you record, edit and add sound effects, but it does not work on chromebooks.
*Teachers may choose to publish your work (with your permission) on a public podcast. See your school's Learning Coach for more details!

This is absolutely the easiest way to record a Podcast! The image to the right IS the actual site where you would record your speech in a podcast! You will have limited editing rights, but this is an easy Podcast experience.
BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR FILE TO GOOGLE DRIVE BEFORE YOU SIGN OUT!
WeVideo can be used to make podcasts too!
This is a tutorial video that will help you use WeVideo to create a Podcast, even though WeVideo is usually used to make a video. For specific tutorials visit the WeVideo section of this page.
New this year: You can now download audio files from WeVideo. See the tutorial below.

Finishing Your Video
Ask your teacher to create a discussion in Canvas. If your teacher enables podcasting, any audio or video recording you submit to the discussion will be posted to a podcast. (Teacher instructions)
Garage Band
This application will let you record, edit and add sound effects, but does not work on chromebooks. You must use the computers in the Mac Lab to access Garage Band. See Mrs. Maley or Mrs. Sporleder for further details.
