BACHELOR OF ARTS
You can major in ‘Media Studies’ as part of this degree
They tend to study a lot of theory about film and society, rather than doing practical things (more essays, writing)
This degree can be good for analytical jobs like policy analyst
This could suit students who also enjoy English or Social Sciences
BACHELOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
This is a more business focussed degree with practical elements that link to communication (making relationships, expressing ideas)
It leads to careers like public relations, marketing, journalism
A popular job for graduates at the moment is managing social media for companies and a lot of young East graduates have gained jobs in marketing or managing communications
This could suit students who enjoy English or Drama as well
BACHELOR OF BUSINESS STUDIES
Students who want to study other business subjects could include some media skills in majors like marketing
This would suit students who also did subjects like Economics or Accounting or Business Studies

PRACTICAL QUALIFICATIONS
You can specialise in film, TV, radio, broadcasting at various institutes
These often have internships at businesses
Students should start building up their own port-folios out of school if they want to do practical work as it can often be hard getting a 'foot in the door' in these industries
