The 7th and 8th-grade students who are enrolled in Aeronautics had the opportunity to attend a field trip that immersed them in the field of aviation. Students were first brought to the Teterboro Crash Fire Rescue Squad at the airport where they had the opportunity to meet with the members of the squad on duty, learn about the advanced fire trucks they use, and even try on the very heavy gear. Students got to watch the firetrucks in action as the squad members showed how they put out airplane fires and cut into the side of an airplane. Check out the pictures below!
Next, students headed across the Teterboro Airport to the Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum of New Jersey where they were exposed to an abundance of information about various aircraft, the prominent role New Jersey played in aviation, and the impact of space exploration. Students had the opportunity to sit inside retired aircraft that flew in WWII, during 1950, the Vietnam War, etc. "In the first decades of aviation, Teterboro Airport, in Bergen County, was the center of development and record-setting flights. Teterboro Airport is the oldest operating airport in the Tri-State Region," (New View Media). Look at all the fun activities students were engaged in!
