Third & Fourth Grade Pull-out Program: Twice weekly pullout sessions for 1 hour each conducted by the G&T specialist
K-2 Program: Twice monthly pullout session for 30 minutes conducted by the G&T specialist
Concentration on Math, English Language Arts (ELA), and Project Based Learning
A focus on promoting critical thinking and reasoning skills, creativity, independent learning, leadership skill, and school wide enrichment

What is the definition of Gifted and Talented?
New Jersey Administrative Code 6A:8-3.1 defines students who are gifted and talented as those students who possess or demonstrate high levels of ability in one or more content areas when compared to their chronological peers in the local district and who require modification of their educational program if they are to achieve by their capabilities.
What will the Gifted & Talented Program
look like for 3rd & 4th Grades?
Third and Fourth grade students identified based on established criteria will receive direct instructional services from the gifted and talented program specialist. G&T students will meet twice weekly for one-hour sessions with the gifted and talented specialist.
The identified Gifted and Talented students will engage in rigorous academic activities that center around problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
What will the Gifted & Talented Program
look like for K-2nd Grade?
Students will continue to receive differentiated instruction for accelerated learning from their classroom teacher. In addition, identified students will be pulled out once a month.
What happens if my students is reassessed and is eligible for the G&T program?
The Weehawken Township School District recognizes that children continue to grow and develop. Students are monitored and reevaluated annually to identify if there is a need for Gifted and Talented services. If their child is eligible, parents will be notified in writing.
Grade 3 students will be reevaluated mid-year for the pullout program eligibility.
Students new to the Weehawken Township School District are screened for G&T program eligibility and services.
What is the appeals process for the Gifted & Talented program?
Appeals must be submitted in writing to the building principal. These can be emailed directly to the building principal. A meeting will be coordinated to review the students’ multiple measures/data portfolio.
