Computing

Intent

At Weedon Bec, we aim to provide children with key life skills to access technology safely and comprehensively that will equip them for the future. They develop analytical problem-solving skills and learn to evaluate and apply information technology. It also enables them to become responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information technology. We give the children an awareness of the dangers of the internet and give them the skills to be resilient and tolerant to the challenges that they may face. This is taught through a sequence of structured lessons, helping teachers to ensure that they have covered the skills required to meet the aims of the national curriculum, that allows children to apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science. The content allows for a broad, deep understanding of computing and how it links to children's lives. It offers a range of opportunities for consolidation, challenge and variety.

We have identified computing as an area for development which has prompted the changes we have made to our intent and implementation. As a result, we are determined to ensure we purchase quality resources to enrich our computing curriculum and enable the objectives to be taught effectively.
