The WECDSB is deeply committed to protecting the privacy and security of all student and staff information and is bound by Ontario’s Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act (MFIPPA), which guides how the Board implements and manages privacy protections, as well as the Personal Health Information Protection Act. (PHIPA).
What to Never Input:
Students' full names, birth dates, or any other PII.
Sensitive information, such as grades, IEP details, or private communications.
Proprietary school data or confidential information.
Approved Tools:
Only pre-vetted and officially approved AI tools (such as Gemini for Education and NotebookLM) should be used.
These tools have strict agreements in place that ensure student data is not used to train their public models.
