Alignment with Catholic Expectations
The guidelines for using AI, and by extension digital citizenship, are grounded in Catholic social teachings and align with the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations. The document explicitly illustrates how digital citizenship relates to these expectations:
Discerning Believer: Students should "believe that God is always with me even in my online activity" and "conduct myself online as a Joyful Disciple".
Effective Communicator: Students should "communicate clearly, honestly and with sensitivity while online," choose "words that are life-giving," and "work to ensure that I can be proud of my online voice and digital reputation".
Responsible Citizen: Students should be "a peacemaker in the digital world" and "stand up for what is right even when it's not popular".
Self-Directed Responsible Lifelong Learner: Students are encouraged to "set goals and continually work to improve myself as a digital citizen" and "reflect on the digital footprint that my online activity creates".
