Work Study

All students will have a work-study placement where they will attend Monday-Thursday for about 2-3 hours. They may or may not have a job coach depending on their need at the job site. The goal is to find placements so that we can slowly phase out the job coach and build independence. Work study placements must be set up through the classroom teacher and WCSD Transition Specialist.  The goal of the work study is for students to improve their vocational skills, social skills and communication skills, so that when the student exits the program they would be ready for independent general employment. Work studies are non-paid, but on occasion students have been hired or obtained paid employment on their own. During the students final year the WCSD will partner with Adult Career & Continuing Education Services- Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) to discuss employment opportunities/ services after exiting the WSCD Post Secondary Transition Program.
