What is the Personality Compass Test?
The Personality Compass Test is a psychological assessment tool that aims to determine an individual's personality traits and preferences. It is designed to provide insights into how people perceive and interact with the world around them, helping them understand themselves better and make informed decisions about their lives. As a way to get to know and better understand our Physician Assistant students, we had them complete this personality test. We hope that by knowing their personality type, it will help our preceptors better connect to our students.Â
The test is based on the idea that personality can be categorized into four main orientations or "directions": North, East, South, and West. Each direction represents a distinct set of characteristics and behaviors. Here's a brief description of each direction:
North: Natural leader, Goal-oriented, Fast-paced, Task-oriented, Assertive, Decisive, Confident, Determined, Competitive, Independent.
East: Natural planner, Quality-centered, Analytical, Organized, Logical, Focused, Exact, Perfectionist, Industrious, Structured.
South: Natural team player, Process-oriented, Slow paced, Good listener, Non-confrontational, Sensitive, Patient, Understanding, Generous, Helpful.
West: Natural Risk taker, Idea-centered, Creative, Innovative, Flexible, Visionary, Spontaneous, Enthusiastic, Free-spirited, Energetic
The Personality Compass Test typically presents a series of questions or scenarios and asks individuals to choose the response that best aligns with their preferences. By analyzing the pattern of responses, the test provides insights into the individual's dominant and less dominant directions.
It is important to note that the Personality Compass Test is just one tool among many for understanding personality and should be used as a starting point for self-reflection and personal growth. It can help individuals gain a better understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, and preferences, allowing them to make more informed decisions and navigate their personal and professional lives more effectively.
