WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2007, WRWP has already built up a reputation across the Wasatch Front and the nation for innovation and excellence in educational in-service.
The WRWP's mission is to enhance student learning across curricular and grade level areas by improving writing in all areas and mediums.
The WRWP believes that:
1) the best professional development comes when teachers teach each other,
2) teachers of writing should be actively engaged in writing themselves,
3) writing instruction should be informed by current pedagogical theories.
The WRWP provides resources, in-services, and opportunities for all those involved in facilitating great education. By helping all involved (Teachers, Students, Administrators, and Parents), we hope to change the face of education for a better world today and tomorrow.
Born in Bountiful, Utah during the winter of discontent and before the summer of love, writer, musician, and student of life, William Pollett grew up searching for loud noises in the sweet silence of Star Valley, Wyoming. He found a love for the mountains, bodies of water, and wildlife. He studied education, folklore, and creativity at the graduate level and currently serves as the director for the Wasatch Range Writing Project. He teaches composition, and song writing at Weber State University. He has published poetry and short stories in Petroglyph, Rough Draft, Street Magazine, and The Northern Utah Junction. William is also the director and founder of the Free Academy for Creative Expression (FACE). He is a founding member of the WRCNU (Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for Northern Utah) and an advocate for local communities, education, and the environment. He lives with his loving wife Natalee, their dog Roxy, and an old ornery orange cat named Buddy Rich on the bench of the Wasatch Mountains in Ogden, Utah where he loves to hike and feed the birds. William Pollett is also known as Little Bird or Itzy Ya-Ya to the locals.
