Task Description
Students were tasked with developing a ballista system with popsicle sticks, rubber bands, tape and cotton. Students were to design with limited resources and time in mind. Through building, testing and modifying the design together, students learnt to work with an engineering mindset and to work as a team.

Group Reflection
Working as a team was not easy. We had different ideas and opinions, so we had some arguments. It was also frustrating that we just needed more tape and popsicle sticks to make our ballista a great one.
If we could decide, we would add more tape, sticks and probably more glue, to keep our ballista really strong and pull it harder. It was satisfying to finally launch the cotton far enough to beat previous launches. Our hard work made it happen!
Teacher's Comment
The STEM group was able to carry out the whole project very well. It was evident to see the students were able to overcome the challenges they faced successfully. They understood the importance of communication and to respect each other’s opinions in the process. They also learnt to cooperate as a group and were able to build a final ballista that was much better compared with their first built. Overall the STEM group worked cohesively to design and built a successful ballista.
