Task Description
In this topic, students learnt about one of the simple machines -pulleys. They learnt to identify the two main types of pulley (fixed and movable), and applied the concepts learnt to distinguish different pulley systems or tools in daily life. Besides that, students also learnt to determine the functionality of different parts of a pulley system, whether it be saving or redirecting the force.

Student's Reflection
I learnt that there are two different kinds of pulley and how they work in daily life. Pulleys relate to many things in our lives such as the lift, the tower crane and flagpoles. They all have pulley systems!
What I enjoyed most is the building part of pulley systems because I can feel from where I pull and how it works.
If I could learn more I would like to learn about how the ancient people invented and used this simple machine.
Teacher's Comment
Greta showed good understanding and initiative in her work. The way she demonstrated her understanding of the subject knowledge also showed great enthusiasm and effort. In her notes she separated the subject knowledge tidily into “Types of pulleys”, “Counterweight concept” and “Diagram”. Well done, Greta!
