Task Description
Students learnt how to write Gothic-style calligraphy in this topic. They had to choose a sentence related to the school theme of the year, “Connectedness”. It took a lot of practice and patience for students to get used to the calligraphy pen. For the background, students were free to design and paint whatever they wanted.

Student's Reflection
The theme of this artwork is our school theme, “Connectedness”. I chose a quote about connectedness, and used yellow and green as the main colours because they match our school colours. I drew some vines on top which is a symbol of connection. We are all connected in school.
Teacher's Comment
It was the first time students ever held a calligraphy pen. It was quite difficult at first and took a lot of practice. Bernice’s writing is very good, the letters are upright, strokes are smooth and straight, and the distance between words are good. I like that she used a subtle background to make the sentence stand out more.
